Mummy's curses are fairly common on police procedurals and make for fun stories, so combined with the usual Castle humor, "Wrapped Up in Death" made for an enjoyable hour of television after the previous two intense episodes.
A series of deaths of those who saw the mummy and a few accidents leads Castle, who doesn't believe in curses, to become jump. Beckett, Esposito, and Ryan play tricks on him which was funny. Castle also pretends to be Indiana Jones and makes Scooby Doo references. Beckett gets her own Scooby Doo reference. saying "Ruh roh," when the murderer falls down a flight of stairs.
The crime solving took a backseat to the curse. Will Medina, the assistant curator at the Natural History Museum, is murdered by a falling gargoyle. After investigating a Mayan and an ex-drug dealer, they find the real murderer, Medina's boss Stanford Raynes, who was jealous of all the girls who had a crush on him.
