Review - Legend of the Seeker Season 2 Episode 20 Eternity

I have a headache right now, so I'll be brief. (I have no clue how I'll get through the Sunday shows)

With only 2 episodes left, Legend of the Seeker went into overdrive, ending with a twist sure to spur the show towards the final confrontation with Darken Rahl and the Keeper. "Eternity" focused on the main quest by dividing the group into Richard/Kahlan and Cara/Zedd.

Cara's old friend, the Mord-Sith Dalia, trails them in order to tell Cara about her son, fathered by Darken Rahl, who had been kidnapped by the Sisters of the Dark. While I would have liked to see where the story with Cara's son could have gone, the episode took another direction, which have equal potential and was executed well in the end. Also intriguing is the relationship between Cara and Dahlia, and it seemed like they had this thing a long time ago. (A bit of lesbian action is never bad.) Dahlia betrays Cara, informing her that her son was killed on the day of his birth. For the rest of the episode, Darken Rahl uses various methods to re-break Cara. Tabrett Bethell has been a great surprise this season, joining the group and meshing with them, and really came through in the episode. It's a shame she will only have one season.

As Kahlan states, it's been a long time since Kahlan and Richard have actually been alone. Off the top of my head, I can't remember an episode lately where they been completely isolated from everyone else. Being alone, they have a chance to sleep together, Richard even suggesting they have a baby to counter Cara and Darken Rahl's son. But their biggest roadblock, Kahlan's Confessor powers, still exist and there's no way to get around that until some newfangeled magic comes along and fixes the problem. They reach the Stone of Tears and grab it, but the people guarding it, who have never stepped out into the world, don't permit them to leave, telling them instead that once everyone dies, Richard and Kahlan can repopulate the world. One of them, however, is more open and has a ring that allows Richard and Kahlan to contact Zedd, who had been saved by Cara. Unfortunately, Cara was only acting and steals the Stone from Zedd.

Cara will have to be unbroken and that won't be easy. The promo for next week's episode had some weird stuff going on, possibly a portent for the final episode as well as a time skip into the future.

Score: 9.1/10
