The Mentalist hasn't dedicated much time to the characters other than Jane, so it was nice to "Like a Redheaded Stepchild" focus on Rigsby for a change. When a prison guard is found dead, Rigsby turns to his father, an ex-con, for information and while that doesn't lead to solving the murder (Jane solves it as always), it brings up lots of thorny issues. Rigsby gets them resolved, physically fights with his father, and works up the nerve to tell Van Pelt what he thinks about the wedding: O'Laughlin is a good guy, but he won't be there to see her get married.
