Three episodes in and it's clear what Hawaii Five-0 is: a normal procedural. The only difference is the budget. Perhaps the scope of the cases are bigger--as "Malama Ka Aina" involved a gang war that could have embroiled the island--but the core is very plain. The characters don't have much depth and the dialogue is predictable.
Based on the ratings, viewers are perfectly fine with Hawaii Five-0. Pretty people, pretty landscapes, and explosive action. And I, too, am also fine with the way the show is. It's a procedural and we should never forget that.
