Review - Fringe Season 2 Episode 6 Earthling

There's aliens in the Fringe universe?!?!? Apparently, but this fact was largely ignored as the the shadow monster was stopped. Nothing really gets resolved in Fringe, but I thought at least extraterrestrial life sucking radiation would be of interest.

Broyles still has a mysterious background so I liked how the episode centered on him, and revealed quite a bit about him. He's too dedicated and that's why he divorced his wife. Lance Reddick is a great actor that made the story compelling.

Other than the cool dusting of the victims, the main story mainly fell flat. The rest of the cast with the slight exception of Walter did virtually nothing and had nothing good to do or say.

I'm going to do a separate post for ratings later, but Fringe is in serious trouble right now and episodes like this don't help. Fringe needs mythology heavy episodes which are the most intriguing and compelling. Standalone episodes don't cut it anymore in an age where almost all genre shows are heavily serialized. Even a tidbit of mythology would help, but a complete lack of mythology is glaring.

Score: 8.5/10
