After last week's rather fast paced action, the second episode didn't quite deliver as I would have hoped. The plot went nowhere, and like FlashForward, the characters weren't that interesting. I think if the writers had just slowed everything down, and got to the revelation in a later episode, the show would be in a better place right now. Currently, there is no focal point. The various characters are off doing their own thing and it's not coming together.
Erica's son Tyler continues to have no redeeming quality, spending his time chasing tail which unfortunately is green and scaly. He's just a bad person and while Erica appears to be concerned over what he does, she is totally oblivious to his V activity. Being a single parent doesn't give her time to bond with her child, so whatever Tyler does may be a reflection on her.
Ryan and his almost-fiance Valerie continued their ridiculousness with Ryan lying and Valerie going along. Whether it's love or stupidity, Valerie sure doesn't know anything.
The most interesting part of the episode was seeing Chad attempt to gain credibility for himself. We don't know what the public thinks about him, but inside, he knows he did what Anna asked of him. He may have angered Anna with the pros and cons segment, but it established credibility for him, and proves to Anna that he's no a pushover. Maybe that will work for now, but the Vs can probably replace him easily.
Score: 8.7/10
