The writers finally gave as a very good standalone episode for a change, and added a little intrigue for Massive Dynamic. I commented on another site that from the promo, this episode looked like I'd be similar to The X-Files episodes "Pusher" and "Kitsunegari." To an extent, I was right
Albeit the motivations for Tyler's murderous rampage were quite weak, but the action, pacing, and suspense was very good. The twist was kind of predictable thought that led to more information into Massive Dynamic. They are pushing the edges of science and in this case, the consequences were dire.
Walter showed lots of concern for Peter and again alluded to the fact that he stole Peter from an alternate universe. I like how Fringe has the same kind of dramatic irony that was used in Alias. Walter and the audience know something, and we can clearly see what Walter is saying from his dialogue, yet Peter who is hearing the same thing we are has no clue.
It looks like Massive Dynamic has a whole bunch of Tylers for whatever purpose. Maybe they are building them to fight off the otherworldly enemies. Maybe they are going for world domination. Either way, they are lying and hiding their true agenda. It'll be interesting to see how Massive Dynamic plays into the main story and exactly where they are on the evil scale. They already earn enough money, so what is their endgame?
