"All Dogs Go to Heaven" works as an analogy for Sam and Dean. Their initial target is a werewolf, but things just aren't adding up. Eventually the culprit is a weredog who had been living with a family. Likewise, Sam and Dean are wandering through the world with a seemingly clear target, Sam's soul, but an unsure exactly how to get there. Is helping Crowley the only choice, or is there another option yet to be seen?
The plot itself was uninteresting and barely kept my attention. There isn't anything revealed about Alphas or Crowley, and I had a hard time feeling bad for Lucky since he was a creep. On the other hand, the episode does a good job fleshing out the problems for Sam.
Sam basically admits he's using Dean for his own ends and that entails telling Dean the truth. Sam feels nothing at all and doesn't care about Dean, but knowing Dean is his brother adds another arsenal to his toolbox. Dean knows this, but what else can he do. He has to help this version of Sam get his soul back, even if it means allowing Sam to do some unsavory stuff.
