Earlier this year, within a week, there were three episodes of Chuck, Human Target, and NCIS where the characters were on a plane and the flight attendant turned out to be the bad guy. This week, Glee, Modern Family (only one of the subplots), and Community tackled the issue of religion, specifically in regard to dead/dying people, and Caprica had tons of religious discussion as well. Weird, huh?
Community, unlike Glee, takes a position, furthering Modern Family's discussion. Yes, Pierce's religion is ridiculous and he may be getting his money taken, but it works for Pierce and allows him to feel better about losing his mother.
But enough of that. How about Britta and Annie? They get in a proxy fight over their ability to collect money for the oil spill, which brings out all their insecurities when they make up. Of course they have to get very dirty first for all the students and viewers.
I wasn't really paying attention to Abed, but I caught him three times in the background with the pregnant girl--when he's talking to her, when he gets chased off, and when he delivers the baby. Were there more instances than that? Brilliant move on the part of the writers to put a plot entirely in the background.
