Review - The X-Files Season 1 Episode 11 Eve

"Eve" is a freaky, freaky episode, ranking, in my opinion, in the top 5 most disturbing episodes of the series. "Eve" doesn't come close to "Home"--and nothing ever will be--but it's dark, scary, and has a couple great plot twists.

The episode begins with two fathers, on the other side of the country, exsanguinated in front of their daughters. Mulder starts of believing in aliens as exsanguination is used in cattle mutilations long thought to be the handiwork of aliens. However, he and Scully find out that the daughters are identical, leading them to learn about the Lichfield Experiment, a eugenics program that created Adams and Eves who were supposed to be superior in every respect. Needless to say, it was a failure and the Eves killed themselves, leaving only 3 alive.

The great twist comes when Sally Kendrick, one the Eves who created the two girls, is killed by the girls, a drastic role reversal and a scary one at that. Soon, Mulder and Scully find themselves in harms way as the girls also try to kill them. Mulder figures it out in time, but the girls are just girls, the scariest part of the episode.

The strong point in the episode lies in the acting which brought out the creepiness of everything. Erika and Sabrina Krievins portray Teena and Cindy with haunting ability and Harriet Harris is chilling. Mulder and Scully take a backseat in the episode which is fine when everything else is so strong.

Score: 9.0/10
