After about a 6 month wait, Lie to Me is back and with finish the summer over the season, which is nice since broadcast networks rarely have quality television during the summer. It's also been renewed for a third season, so they'll be much more adventures of Dr. Cal Lightman up ahead.
Lie to Me came back on a high note with "Beat the Devil," guest starring Jason Dohring as the charming yet dangerous Martin., who Cal suspects of being a psychopath. This leads to a chess game, not a cat-and-mouse game, but two dueling minds trying to out think the other. Of course Cal comes on top after a rather hasty conclusion which has Cal waterboarded before the cops conveniently show up and take Martin away.
The rest of the stuff in the episode--UFOs, Foster, Helen--reamained in the peripheral and never caught my attention. Still, the A-plot was all that needed to sustain the episode and it.
