I wanted to make a quick programming note before the review. Castle was originally slated to air the 2-part episode on Sunday, March 21 and Monday, March 22, using the lead-in of Desperate Housewives. Supposedly, the return of Dancing with the Stars will be a stronger lead-in. While that's probably true, I want to see how Castle would do after scripted programming.
Castle and Beckett explore the world of BDSM, and as expected there's lots of curious and hilarious reactions. Notably, Beckett seems to have above average knowledge of the world. Is there anything to that? Castle being hypnotized to Dina Meyer's character was golden.
The case was fairly standard, but there was one twist at least. The victim, who was getting her PhD, actually became a dominatrix to study the clients. The murderer had to be someone not related in the industry, so it was going to either be the PhD candidate or the roommate. Beckett interrogated all suspects until the roommate came up, and she admitted the truth.
The episode was uneven with the comedy about BDSM in the first half of the episode and the straight interrogations in the later half. Other than that, the episode was very enjoyable.
Score: 8.9/10
