The concept of Breakout Kings, cons catching cons, is as farfetched as it gets, and it seems like the writers acknowledge that. Erica steals a watch for Lloyd, who will possibly be killed if he doesn't pay back debts, and says that they need him. Well, that's mostly because Lloyd, with his education and intellect, contributes more to the case than everyone else. We see Erica help out occasionally and spot something Lloyd does not, but the writers play up Lloyd so much that it seems like he could solve crimes alone with Charlie and Ray to bust down doors.
Five episodes in Breakout Kings, and I like how the writers are proceeding. The criminals and investigation are very average, which is true of most procedurals, but the writers are also unafraid to expand each character, adding new information every week. This week, we see Ray meet with his daughter, knowing he can't see her very often, and at the end of the episode we learn that Julianne was kicked out of the academy and wants to become a Marshall alongside Ray.
