Review - Hellcats Season 1 Episode 1 A World Full of Strangers

Hellcats strives--and succeeds--to be the cheesiest show on television. From the laughable plot developments to the hokey dialogue in between the dances, it clear we aren't supposed to take the show too seriously. The everlasting optimism and you-can-do-it spirit of Glee has graduated, and now in college, it takes a life of its own.

When the pilot doesn't focus on the cheerleading aspect, it's actually not bad. Aly Michalka and Ashley Tisdale are surprisingly good, and the scene when Marti talks about her alcoholic mother was strking. That said, Hellcats is definitely not mty kind of show, and I'd have a hard time watching later episodes when I was already pausing to laugh during the pilot.

Score: 7.4/10
