Review - Stargate Universe Season 2 Episode 7 The Greater Good

After writing far more than intended last week, I promised myself I wouldn't spend as much time writing about a show I don't really like anyway. The good thing is that "The Greater Good" is one of the best episodes, so I don't have much complaints.

I usually complain about the writers holding back and resetting, and "The Greater Good" is great precisely because the cards are laid out on the table. Trapped on a ship, Rush's big secret comes out and needless to say, Young is not a happy camper. But Rush's reason truly breaks not only the episode open, but also the entire series. The Ancients were researching the background radiation in the universe as a possible code from the creator of the universe. Continuing on that thought, could that have anything to do with why the Ancients ascended?

And ooks like something bad will happen to Perry/Ginn. Simeon isn't a happy camper and if he thinks Ginn is talking, there's a quick solution to her. (Seriously, why isn't anyone keeping an eye on him at all time since he's the biggest troublemaker?) Both Eli and Rush may have their women taken away.

While there's the usual danger regarding the derelict ship which is easily resolved in the end, something tangible and pertinent results from it, something we rarely see. "The Greater Good" was probably my favorite episode of the series, so hopefully the show will continue down the path.

Score: 9.0/10
