Review - The Big Bang Theory Season 4 Episode 4 The Hot Troll Deviation

Along with Raj, Howard is one of The Big Bang Theory's more useless characters. He's always the butt of jokes, whether it be directly from Raj, Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny, or the writers when they put him in a hopeless situation. In either case, Howard is a pathetic guy.

Howard is the focus of "The Hot Troll Deviation," and for what it's worth, he's more or less a normal guy in this particular episode. The reappearance of Bernadette throws him off his usual act and we see some of his genuine insecurities come out, in addition to Katee Sackoff and George Takei as his subconscious. In the end, he reunites with Bernadette and his life seems to be headed in the right direction, at least until next week when he's acting stupid again.

The subplot seemed like it was shoved in the episode for the sake of having Sheldon do something. Raj and Sheldon fight several times, resulting in a few gags, but nothing remotely important or notable.

Score: 8.4/10

  •  Comparing Sulu to Starbuck on the reimagined BSG? Come on--Katee Sackoff had far more interesting material than George Takei (except for the shirtless samurai stuff).
