Review - How I Met Your Mother Season 5 Episode 21 Twin Beds

The episode was going great until the halfway point. I was laughing at Don thinking Ted was gay, the reveals that half the people Robin hang out with are her ex-boyfriends, and the small implications that Barney and Ted still want Robin. Then, all hell broke loose. Ted and Barney get drunk and just go out of control while Robin and Don stand around, not amused at the antics.

And to be fair, there is some basis for being back the relationship issues, just not the all-out craziness displayed in the second half. Ted does have a good point that Robin didn't want to settle down, and if she wants to move in with Don now, surely she's ready to settle down with Don. Barney, on the other hand, wants to have sex with Robin. Really?

I still don't understand the appeal of Don. To me, he's just a stand-in for a generic boyfriend Robin. He doesn't have a discernible personality and seems like an average straight-shooter, but Robin seems to like him which is what counts.

I also don't understand why the episode was titled "Twin Beds." Marshall and Lily getting separate beds is a good idea to start with, but used the two factors, Lily being hot and Marshall eating in bed, over and over again to the point where it got stupid. We get it. They sleep better apart and in the end, they're cuddling in one bed.

The episode ends with Robin leaving the group, so she can move in with Don, unencumbered by the two children fighting over her. Is she being written out? I hope not.

Score: 8.5/10
