Review - House Season 6 The Choice 19 The Choice

"The Choice" was the choice of the patient whether to marry a woman or not, but there were no choices for the viewers. The writers set in stone, in their universe, that homosexuality is purely biology. I'm guessing the target demographic likes this stuff so there isn't much risk with being so clear with a controversial issue, but those who don't watch the show probably have different sensibilities. If I had to guess, this will show up on Drudge later today and create a firestorm.

Since there isn't any definitive scientific evidence making the clear link of genetics to homosexuality, I was confused why no one put up an argument against House's clear assertion that Ted was born that way. Without scientific basis, the writers went with a wholly biological reason not backed up by any facts. But these are TV doctors and liberal writers anyway.

I wasn't a fan of Wilson paying the other characters to hang out with House or House forcing Taub to sign up for a ceramics class. It seemed like a big distraction for what could have been a deeper discussion of the patient and biology. It was left unclear exactly what Taub is up to. He claims he didn't do anything, but as we saw at the end of last week's episode, he got into the nurse's car. Do we have to hate Taub now?

Overall, the episode was one more interesting ones in recent memory, and there's something going on with House that isn't related to his antics. House has replaced drugs with alcohol, a legal but still harmful remedy. As there are only two episodes left, could he be approaching another mental break?

Score: 8.6/10
