Review - Castle Season 2 Episode 22 Food to Die For

Castle has been on a non-stop roll of good episodes. The last time I disliked an episode was way back in the beginning of the season and the show has improved dramatically since then. With the season finale only 2 weeks away, there is a growing sense that Beckett must choose between either Castle or Demming. Each episode throws hints around.

From what I've read, I'm almost certain Castle and Beckett won't be getting together soon, the reason being the hackneyed (and inaccurate) Moonlighting example. It's only the second season and I won't complain much if they don't get together, but in then current state of police procedurals, I would like to be surprised about character relationships sometimes. And at least it's not like Bones which is becoming worse and worse with the pathetic non-relationship between Brennan and Booth.

"Food to Die For" had an average case with lots of clues, suspects, and no solid leads until the case breaks, leading them to the victim's foster brother. The crimes solving element of Castle has never been strong, but the cases work because of the context. In this case, it's about a Top Chef-like TV show chef who is murdered. Beckett meets her old high school friend and we learn about Beckett's past. At the same time, Beckett's friend, Madison, has a thing for Castle and he reciprocates, bringing up an incident from Beckett's senior year, presumably a big fight over a guy.

Score: 9.0/10
