Review - The Good Wife Season 1 Episode 18 Doubt

The family drama which engulfed the past couple episode was put on hold for legal drama and the other characters. The trial is about Bianca Stark who was arrested for shooting her roommate after having a threesome. Through a series of scenes of the jury hilariously arguing over the case, we see the jury process as the case is presented in the court.

The verdict really does come down to the wire, and until the end, I had no clue what would happen. William Blackstone's famous quote "better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer" works well in the situation where the jury is given contradictory evidence from all direction and there really is no way they could be certain of what happened. Being that we see the case unravel from Alicia's persepective as well as the jury, we could have assumed Bianca's innocence. In the end, Bianca agrees to a 10 year plea deal, but the jury was unanimously not guilty. But hey, at least Cary said he'd visit her.

Kurt McVeigh (Gary Cole) makes a wonderful return and catches Diane's attention all over the place. They end of sleeping together, and once the defense dredges that up, Will is caught off guard and the jury has someone doubt of McVeigh's motives.

Alicia and Will talk about their almost-relationship at Georgetown over the phone. Grace overhears Alicia's end of the conversation and she is even more troubled. When she could no longer trust her father, there was always Alicia as the pinnacle of morality, but who does she look to now?

Score: 9.3/10
