Review - Supernatural Season 5 Episode 13 The Song Remains the Same

I thought the show would get back on track with the apocalypse stuff this week, but the episode was really just another standalone episode that was mostly unrelated to Lucifer. The chain of events is set off when Anna comes back to destroy Sam. When we last saw her, Anna was a good guy, but now she's out for Sam's blood. At the same time, she's not malicious or sneering like some of the other angels. She acts like it must be done. I think there is more to be explored with her character and how she had her change of heart, so I hope she comes back.

Sam, Dean, and Castiel go back to 1978 to protect their parents from Anna. A series of awkward moments and weird looks later, Anna lures John away, and they get into a big fight. They drive Anna off who comes back with a young Uriel. Then Michael shows up in John's body and talks with Dean. They have a big discussion about free will, and Dean shrugs it off. However persuasive Michael can be, Dean won't be anyone's lapdog. In between, Mary learns that Sam and Dean are her children, and they have a heart to heart.

Score: 9.1/10
