Review - NCIS Season 7 Episode 15 Jack Knife

Why all of the interest in Werth this season? He was in a random episode two seasons ago and now he's in two episodes this season. And why does everyone want him to succeed? There's been plenty of supporting characters that have come and gone with no redemption, but Gibbs first gives him a silver star two seasons ago, and now Ziva who was already sympathetic tells him he can succeed. His track record has been one failure after another. He was taking steroids, joined a mercenary group, and a trucking company that does shady business. I thought only viewers succumb to a pretty face.

Fornell made his first appearance of the season and bickered with Gibbs. He's never been a favorite of mine, but the more the dynamic between he and Gibbs grows, the better I like him. This week, they squabble over driving and make a scene at a gas station.

The case was very convoluted and didn't even have a direction until about three-fourths through the episode. Before that, there was the guy in charge of the company, the trucks, the dead guy, and an undercover op. The resolution went off in a completely different direction with evidence coming out of the blue, and another guy getting arrested. There had been a street racing bet, and a girl got killed, so the bald guy covered it up.

McGee's story was terrific and my favorite part of the episode. Gibbs's arm is still broken, so McGee caters to his every need. That means waking up early in the morning. The result: a constantly tired McGee who needs coffee to operate, and funny scenes for us to watch.

Like many shows, NCIS is avoiding the Winter Olympics, so it won't be back until March 2. "Jack Knife" was a decent episode, and not too shabby for an episode before a hiatus.

Score: 8.8/10
